All corporate powers of the Foundation are vested in and are exercised by a board of directors that controls and manages the Foundation's property, affairs, and funds. The Foundation is the philanthropic resource for The Western Pennsylvania Hospital. The Foundation's mission is to contribute to the health of our community by mobilizing people and resources to enable The Western Pennsylvania Hospital to provide the most technologically advanced care with competence and compassion -- ensuring quality health care for our community. To accomplish this mission, the Foundation coordinates special fundraising events and programs, including annual appeals, Aluminum Cans for Burned Children recycling program, Golf Classic, and Friendship Ball. The Foundation also raises funds to support the Summer Camp for Burned Children, the Back to School Program for burned children, and several other programs that benefit West Penn Burn Center. Support for the various cutting-edge biomedical research projects taking place at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital is also the responsibility of the Foundation.
