About The Community Partnership

History and Mission

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital Community Partnership is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for community and Hospital leadership to work together to understand and address health-related issues.

Since its inception, the Partneship has addressed issues involving the health of East End neighborhoods within the primary service area of West Penn Hospital. Members of 12 respected organizations and agencies continue to work with West Penn Hospital delegates to foster healthy communities, ensure safer neighborhoods and promote better health through education and other community efforts.

Partnership Committees

The Partnership is comprised of four distinct committees. Each delegate of the Partnership must serve on at least one committee, but members of other local non-profit organizations are also welcome to attend committee meetings and participate in committee activities.

Please email Nancy Grover to find out how you can become a member of one of the Partnership Committees.

The Facilities and Environment Committee

The committee provides input into West Penn Hospital facilities planning and monitors and addresses issues raised by the Hospital's neighbors. Members of this committee assess the Hospital's role in the physical state of the neighborhood the Hospital serves.

Health and Wellness Committee

The Health and Wellness Committee strives to increase awareness of health and wellness programs in the community and improve access to health services and rescources. This committee aligns services for various groups and populations (flu shot clinics for senior citizens, etc.), promotes various health education programs and administers The Community Partnership website.

Public Relations and Marketing Committee

Members of this committee produce a monthly Partnership newsletter, promote activities of the Partnership to the media and publicize various partnership activities and events of member organizations.

Resource Committee

The Resource Committee strives to build relationships between the Hospital and local vendors and businesses and works to publicize Hospital jobs to local residents by hosting job fairs, student career days, and many other programs. The committee also promotes East End home ownership by Hospital employees and is active in local economic development efforts. For more information on the resource committee, please contact Tanya Ulrich.
