"The flexibility with scheduling at West Penn is great!"
Nurses at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital have attractive options for scheduling their work time. They also have numerous opportunities to advance their careers and contribute to the profession.
Scheduling Options
West Penn Hospital offers professional nurses two attractive scheduling options, the Lifestyle Choices program and the Registry.
Lifestyle Choices Program
Professional nurses hired to inpatient care units or West Penn's Home Health Agency may participate in the Lifestyle Choices Program, which offers a choice of either weekday or weekend scheduling.
Weekday nurses work primarily from 7 a.m. Monday to 7 pm. Friday (rotating shifts), and if they would have to pick up a weekend shift due to staffing needs, there is a per-hour weekend differential.
Weekend nurses work two 12-hour shifts between Friday 7 p.m. and Monday 7 a.m. and are paid a premium hourly rate.

- Nursing Research Internship Program - West Penn Hospital offers a Nursing Research Internship to assist West Penn nurses in conducting research. Nurses may request more information from the chairperson of the West Penn Hospital Nursing Research Committee.
