West Penn Allegheny Health System has two clinical campuses. Allegheny General Hospital serves as the clinical campus for the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, and The Western Pennsylvania Hospital serves as the clinical campus for Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

In addition West Penn Allegheny's commitment to education extends to the training of nurses and other non-physician members of the health care team. The Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Health Sciences includes a School of Nursing, School of Respiratory Care, and the Pennsylvania State University/Western Pennsylvania Hospital Program of Radiologic Technology.

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing offers a two-year diploma program with faculty from Clarion University serving as instructors. The School of Respiratory Care was the first baccalaureate respiratory care program in Pennsylvania and is widely recognized as one of the nation's most outstanding programs. In addition to the Radiologic Technology Program, other radiology training programs at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital include Sonography Technologist and Radiation Therapy Technologist programs for students of the Community College of Allegheny County, and a Nuclear Medicine Training Program for Wheeling Jesuit College students.

Alle-Kiski Medical Center's Citizens School of Nursing, open since 1913, is fully accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission for a 20-month diploma program leading to R.N. licensure. Located in New Kensington, the School is affiliated with Penn State University and the Community College of Westmoreland County.
