The Western Pennsylvania Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus opened in 1978 to serve residents of eastern Allegheny County and portions of Westmoreland County. It was the flagship facility of the Forbes Health System that had been created in 1972 by the consolidation of two hospitals serving Pittsburgh's East End - Pittsburgh Hospital and Columbia Hospital. It became part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System in 2000.

The hospital has 317 beds and a staff of over 1,200 who offer a full range of medical and surgical services with specialization in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics (the department is one of the most advanced in the region with a special care nursery), mental health, oncology, emergency medicine, cardiology and diagnostic imaging, including MRI, PET scanning and cardiac catheterization. Also located at West Penn - Forbes Regional Campus is the Forbes Family Health Center, home of the hospital's family practice residency program, and the InterCommunity Cancer Center, a free-standing facility that provides outpatient radiation therapy.

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus has engaged in a comprehensive strategic planning process and is focusing its efforts on strengthening the hospital's acute care services. The Western Pennsylvania Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus has developed plans to renovate and redesign the Emergency Department along with diagnostic and patient care areas, to enhance and augment its cardiac programs, and to upgrade and enhance radiology equipment. As West Penn - Forbes Regional Campus prepares to meet the changing and expanding needs of the community in the decades ahead, your donations can help meet the hospital's highest priority needs.
