Burn Trauma

For more than 30 years, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital Burn Trauma Center has been the region's leading burn center. It is currently the region's only burn center to have received verification from the American Burn Association and American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.

The Burn Trauma Center is the largest and most sophisticated burn care facility in the tri-state area and a leader in burn care teaching and research. The Center has treated more than 7,000 inpatients and 10,000 outpatients, placing the Center among the top burn care facilities in the United States.

West Penn's history of success in treating burn patients is enhanced by the Burn Trauma Center's commitment to research in areas such as wound care, resuscitation and psychological implications of burn injuries. Such research has led to more sophisticated patient care at West Penn's Burn Trauma Center - a model for other burn centers worldwide.
