Patient Education Resources Guide

The Patient Education Resources Guide serves as a catalog of books, videos, pamphlets, brochures and other materials in the Health Sciences Library which are appropriate for use in patient education. The materials are arranged in sections according to body systems, disease groups and general health issues; the sections are arranged in alphabetical order with a Table of Contents to assist you in efficiently locating the section that you need.

All materials may be borrowed by staff members of Allegheny General Hospital, including medical staff affiliated with Allegheny Primary Practice Network and Allegheny Specialty Practice Network, and authorized students, for one week unless they are held in the Reference Collection. Reference materials include the abbreviation REF in their call numbers to indicate that they may not be checked out of the Library; these materials may be photocopied by staff free of charge in the Library if permitted by copyright law.

In addition to patient education materials in the Health Sciences Library, the Library's website provides links to reviewed internet sites that provide health information appropriate for use in patient education. These links may be found under "Consumer Health" on the Library's homepage.

If you have questions about any of the materials listed in the Guide, or if you have any other information needs related to patient education, please contact the Library Staff for assistance:
